A new journey, a group to cultivate and grow. Italia Baseball U12 is preparing to face its European Championship, which will take place in Paderborn from 2nd to 6th Julywith positive feelings and a group that grows closer every day, on and off the pitch.
The preparation of the Azzurri, which also passed through Cupramontana a few weeks ago, reached its peak with 4 intense days in Trento, in the structure managed by Trento Baseball Softballwho promptly and warmly welcomed the team led by the head coach Stefano BuratoThere was no shortage of commitment, work and sweat for the little Azzurrini who took part in training sessions and friendly matches during the 4 days spent in Trentino.
“The preparation went according to our expectations, playing in excellent conditions thanks to the welcome of the Trento Baseball club. The work was intense and put us in a position to grow. We tried to give the group as many situations to face as possible to arrive united and ready for the competition and the responses were positive” commented the skipper of the Azzurrini.
The team left Trento on the morning of Sunday 30 June and set off on the 400km journey towards Paderbornin Westphalia, where the structure of the Ahorn Sportpark will host the 8 participants. This is the first ever U12 European Championship organized in Germany.
Italy tested the waters with a friendly against France on Monday morning to get their engines going, then they will be busy in Group B, againstAustria Tuesday 2nd July at 3.30pm, against the Lithuania Wednesday 3rd at 3.30pm and then at 1pm on Thursday 4th against the Netherlands. Group A includes Ukraine, France, the Czech Republic and the host Germany. Weather unknowns aside (bad weather is forecast during the week), the matches will be played on the synthetic surface of the Ahorn Ballpark in Paderborn, inaugurated in 2022. The semi-finals and finals will be played on Friday 5 and Saturday 6.
The GermaniaEuropean champion in 2022 and 2023, and the Czech Republicwhich shares the top spot in the overall U12 European titles with Italy (9), will be among the most accredited rivals together with the Netherlands in a tournament that will also qualify the top two teams for the 2025 World Cup. “We play in a beautiful structure and on a different pitch than usual to which we will certainly have to be ready to adapt. The final goal is to get to the end, even if we know that the other teams are improving year after year and the first impressions are of a definitely fierce competition. We hope to obtain the maximum result” concluded Burato.
