Great start for Olympic teams after ranking round

The European Championships that also count for the Olympic qualification for teams have started in Essen, one place will be assigned to the men and one to the women. This morning in Germany the 72 arrows of the ranking round of the Olympic bow took place, which established the scoreboard of the preliminaries.

OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION RESULTS – The Italian men’s team, formed by Mauro Nespoli, Federico Musolesi and Alessandro Paoli, finished in third place with 2029 points, just one less than the Netherlands, while France is in first place with 2053 points. This ranking allows the Azzurri to enter the draw directly from the round of 16 where they will challenge the winner of Luxembourg-Denmark on Friday.
In the women’s race Tatiana Andreoli, Lucilla Boari and Chiara Rebagliati did even better, placing second with 1999 points, behind Germany (2004) and ahead of France (1981). The Italian trio is already in the round of 16 where they await a match between Slovakia and Poland on Friday. The 1999 qualifying points count as a new Italian team record, with 99 points more than the previous one, and also that of the national teams, the last one having been set in 2016 by Boari, Mandia and Sartori with 1985.
The Olympic team competition will continue tomorrow with the first elimination round, in which Italy will not participate because it has already qualified for the next round. Friday will be all the other elimination rounds, while Sunday will be the day of the finals.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS – In the individual competition, which does not award Olympic passes, Chiara Rebagliati and Tatiana Andreoli qualified excellently, second and third with 672 and 671 points, behind only the German Bauer (680). The third Italian, Lucilla Boari, is nineteenth with 656. Andreoli and Rebagliati are already in the round of 16, Boari will start her race from the second qualifying round.
In the men’s event, the best of the Italians is Mauro Nespoli who takes sixth place with 684, while leading the rankings are the Frenchmen Chirault and Addis, first and third with 692 and 689, with the Olympic champion Mete Gazoz (689) in between. Eleventh place for Federico Musolesi with a score of 677 and twentieth for Alessandro Paoli with 669. Nespoli will enter the scoreboard from the eighth round, his two teammates from the second round.

MIXED TEAM RESULTS – Virtual podium for the Mauro Nespoli-Chiara Rebagliati pair in the mixed team with 1356 points, worth third place in the standings and also the new Italian record. The Azzurri are placed behind France (1361) and Germany (1359) and in the round of 16 tomorrow they will face the winner of Poland-Czech Republic.

This afternoon the Azzurri of the compound will also take to the field.
