Italian Media Highlights Indonesia’s Role in 2026 World Cup Qualifying Group of Death

Team competition in Group C 2026 World Cup Qualification for the Asian zone, it also attracted the attention of the leading Italian media, Gazette.

Group C is considered the group of death, because it is occupied by Japan, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Bahrain, China, and Indonesia. The six countries are competing for tickets to the 2024 World Cup finals.

Gazette highlights Italian football legend Roberto Mancini who is now serving as the coach of the Saudi Arabian National Team. The Italian media also predicts which teams will compete closely in Group C of the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

“Things have gotten worse for Roberto Mancini. His Saudi Arabia have been drawn in the toughest group, at least on paper, of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held between the United States, Mexico and Canada (the 2026 World Cup hosts),” the report reads. Gazette, on June 27, 2024.

“Saudi is being hit by Japan (first tier) and Australia, the most dangerous in the second tier. China, Bahrain and Indonesia complete Group C,” continued Gazzetta’s article predicting the strength of the teams Saudi will face.

The Italian media spotlight that mentioned Indonesia as a complement in Group C of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian Zone has become a special concern for football lovers in the country.

Indirectly, Gazzetta said the top competition in Group C for tickets to the 2026 World Cup finals would only involve Saudi Arabia, Japan and Australia.

For the record, the top two teams in each group qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup, while the third and fourth-placed teams will play in an Asian playoff round, divided into two groups of three teams.
