Italian Wrestler Angela Casarola Wins Bronze at European Under 17 Championships

The first of the two close events scheduled in Novi Sad (Serbia) for the continental youth wrestling is archived with a haul of only one medal for Italy. The Italian team closed the European Under 17 Championships 2024 with a bronze, won by the promise of the women’s sector Angela Casarola.

The sixteen-year-old from Como, who has already won six national titles in the various age groups in addition to a European U15 silver, has once again confirmed her competitiveness on the international stage, winning third place in the -49 kg category, which is perhaps a bit tight for her. Casarola lost in the quarterfinals to Hungarian Szonja Nemeth (silver) by priority with a score of 4-4, then dominating in the repechage draw and in the final.

Nothing to do instead for the other 15 young Italians engaged in Novi Sad in the continental U17 event, all out of the medal round. The spotlight is now on the Under 20 European Championships, scheduled from today until Sunday 7 July, with 22 young Italians (including Fabiana Rinella, Immacolata Danise) and Raul Caso on stage in the Serbian location to try to climb onto the podium.
