GUADALAJARA, Jal., July 10, 2024.- Jalisco dominates the country’s amateur sports. This Wednesday, the state’s 23rd consecutive title at the Conade Nationals was made official. The championship, after 65 days of activity in four different venues, was also achieved with a new record of 478 gold medals, to far exceed the 430 gold medals achieved in 2023.

“It was the rowing activity that closed the figure after five days of action at the Virgilio Uribe Olympic Track in Mexico City, where seven gold, seven silver and eight bronze medals were achieved, thus closing an event that left Jalisco with its twenty-third consecutive championship at the national level,” explained Code Jalisco.

“For this edition, the gold and blue team presented a delegation made up of more than a thousand competitors, who managed to obtain 478 first place medals, 331 second place medals and 280 third place medals, to close with 1,089 in total, distributed among the 50 sports that made up the calendar,” he added in a statement.

There were 21 sports in which Jalisco won the national title: boxing, roller skating, diving, shooting, triathlon, wrestling, cycling, breaking, artistic swimming, trampoline gymnastics, pelota, athletics, weightlifting, rhythmic gymnastics, modern pentathlon, taekwondo, climbing, badminton, canoeing, table tennis and water polo.

In 12 disciplines, the Jalisco delegation finished in second place: rodeo, charrería, soccer, bowling, archery, open water, fencing, weightlifting, judo, surfing and artistic gymnastics (men and women). Finally, it achieved third place in tennis, sailing, swimming and karate. Thus, Jalisco managed to get on the podium in 37 of the 50 sports that make up the Conade Nationals calendar.

“In this group of sports, the following stood out for exceeding their gold forecast for this year: boxing, speed skating, figure skating, skateboarding, soccer, tennis, diving, shooting, triathlon, sailing, cycling, breaking, racquetball, fencing, artistic swimming, trampoline gymnastics, pelota, athletics, weights, squash, swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, taekwondo, badminton, karate, canoeing, climbing, table tennis and water polo,” detailed the Code Jalisco.

“To put into perspective the outstanding performance of Jalisco this year, the states of Nuevo León (273 golds) and Baja California (161) once again finished in second and third place in the medal table respectively, with numbers that together reach 434 golds, that is, 44 less than those achieved by Jalisco, which thus bids farewell to the great sporting event with the label of multi-champion and a performance that will be difficult to match in the coming years,” concluded the governing body of sport in the state.

The top medalists of the Jalisco delegation were Ian Caleb Nava (diving) and Renata Agnes Hernández (shooting), with seven golds each. Jalisco was the only state to surpass 300 golds in this edition and the only one to surpass a thousand total medals.
