Jayson Tatum Agrees to Massive Contract Extension with Celtics: Sources

Sources told ESPN that the Celtics and Jayson Tatum have agreed to a five-year, $314 million contract extension.

The star of the Boston Celtics Jayson Tatum has agreed to a five-year, $314 million contract extensionincluding a player option and a trade kicker, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Monday.

Tatum26 years old, led Boston to its 18th NBA title with a victory in five games over the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finalsaveraging 22.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 7.2 assists as the Celtics outscored their eternal rivals, Los Angeles Lakers, for most championships in NBA history.

The 6-foot-9 forward, who was selected third overall by the Celtics in 2017, has emerged as one of the best two-way talents in the NBA on the wing, associating with Jaylen Brown, whom Boston signed to what was a record extension a year ago, to form arguably the best wing duo in the league today.

Los Celtics also agreed to an extension with guard Derrick White early Monday, Boston now has every member of its starting lineup under contract through at least 2025-26.

Tatum is a five-time All-Star and four-time All-NBA selection.including the selection of the All-NBA First Team in each of the past three seasons. After winning a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, she alsowill be part of the United States team at the Paris Olympics this summer as the men’s national team looks to claim its fifth consecutive gold medal.
