Johann Zarco before the German GP: “We shouldn’t look too much at the gap with the leader”

Johann Zarco (LCR Honda): “It’s a small circuit, we’ll see how the bike behaves. We stay on the angle for a long time, that can reduce the gaps and so I hope to have a bit more fun during the weekend. In Assen, I really focused on riding so as not to worry too much tactically, and it did me good to feel a personal evolution during the Grand Prix. You shouldn’t look at the gap with the leader to judge the performance, otherwise it’s too complicated… (…) But I’m happy to continue. Between the Suzuka tests (for the Suzuka 8 Hours in Endurance), the Assen GP, this race and the start for Suzuka, I’m trying to take this month of riding as if I were a young rider who can only improve in four weeks.”

Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha): “We’re going to use the new engine. After that, this track is not the best for us, we have to solve our problems. There are circuits where we think we can do things well and, at the end, we’re not there. Conversely, there are circuits where we think it’s going to be very, very difficult for us and finally it’s a little better than we thought. So it’s difficult to say, especially when we’re in difficulty like that.”
