Judo Club Touraine President Passes the Torch After 24 Years in Office

On June 28, 2024, the general meeting of the Judo Club Touraine (JCT). The opportunity for the club president, Lionel Hérin, to announce that after twenty-four years in office, he “pass the hand” – while remaining a member of the office – to his successor Éric Emmanuelli.

The president then presented the moral report for the past four years. He first highlighted the good results of athletes at the departmental, regional and even national levels. He stressed that after a drop during the Covid crisis, the numbers are gradually returning to normal with 335 licensees in judo, 82 in karate and 15 in aikido.

A word and thanks before leaving

Before stepping down as president, Lionel Hérin thanked the trainers, as well as all the volunteers who contribute to the running of the club created in 1948 and which welcomes athletes from 5 to 80 years old.

He finally recalled that martial arts are sporting disciplines, but also contribute to the training of citizens through “moral code of judo which he said teaches respect, self-control and friendship, among other virtues.

The meeting concluded with a distribution of awards to the many athletes who distinguished themselves during the year.
