After some very difficult months spent with the Warriors, Klay Thompson said goodbye to them a few hours ago. In this context, his name has just been linked to that of Rudy Gobert in the tirade of a famous US journalist.

For the first time since 2011 and his arrival in the league, he will don colors other than those of the Warriors in a few weeks. Klay Thompson has indeed decided to turn this glorious page of his history after 13 years spent in the San Francisco Bay Area. A divorce that some fans hoped would never see, but which made more sense than ever after the complicated season experienced by the star guard.

Far from his best and clearly losing confidence, the Splash Brother did not escape criticism from observers. Worse still, Steve Kerr allowed himself to bench him 14 times, proof of the exceptional nature of the situation. The unsuccessful negotiations around his contract extension finally confirmed this separation, which gave rise to some inglorious confessions concerning him.

Klay Thompson supported… via Rudy Gobert’s misfortunes

Beyond his below-par performances on the field, Thompson has reportedly not been flawless off the field. According to the recent indiscretion of a franchise insiderhis behavior behind the scenes would have thus been revealed to be as tiring as that of… Draymond Green. A comparison which would clearly not be appropriate according to Zach Lowe, who declares in his podcast:

Zach Lowe : Klay isn’t the one who punched a teammate in practice and knocked him out in front of everyone on the franchise. Klay isn’t the only one whose performance level has significantly declined since the 2022 title in the team’s starting five.

A reference to the scuffle between Green and Jordan Poole, as well as the star centre’s lack of form in recent months.

Or, Draymond has been noticed in many other sad ways even more recently. The journalist fromESPN did not hesitate to recall them to support his argument:

Zach Lowe : Klay didn’t choke Rudy Gobert and he’s not the one who went after Jusuf Nurkic, who got suspended indefinitely and came back and tried to sweeten the deal by saying that his suspension was a good thing for the team because it showed how good (Jonathan) Kuminga is. And yet, he’s the one who gets targeted.

As you can see, Lowe regrets that so much attention has been focused on someone other than Dray, whose actions are much more reprehensible and condemnable in his eyes.

For Zach Lowe, putting the attitudes of Klay Thompson and Draymond Green on an equal footing would be a real aberration. The simple evocation of Rudy Gobert’s chokehold could be enough to prove him right.
