The Warriors didn’t try to retain Klay Thompson this summer, partly because of his inconsistency on the NBA court. But his behavior behind the scenes may have had an impact, too.
It’s a page that turns for the Warriors this Monday with the departure of Klay Thompson. The latter reached an agreement to join the Mavericks in the form of a sign-and-trade, allowing the Dubs to recover two second-round draft picks in the transaction. Dallas is rubbing its hands with this acquisition, but Golden State is not necessarily unhappy with the news.
Klay Thompson Exposed For Behavior
The cause? Klay Thompson’s behavior. We know that Draymond Green is difficult to manage, but it shows. In the case of the guard, it’s quite different according to the admission of journalist Joe Dumas. In a recent appearance on the podcast “957 The Game”, he explains that the Splash Brother was far from irreproachable in San Francisco.

Klay Thompson’s behind-the-scenes actions were just as difficult to deal with as Draymond Green’s.
“Klay is just as exhausting behind the scenes. It’s not as loud. It’s not as loud because he’s not stomping on somebody’s chest. If he’s getting upset on the bench and he’s even sulking on the floor, how do you think that’s going to be in practice? How do you think that’s going to be in the locker room? It’s uncomfortable. It’s just not as loud as Draymond Green.”
Thompson has appeared unhappy a lot this season, despite a string of blunders and bad games with the Warriors. If this rumor is to be believed, divorce seemed like the best solution for everyone.
