LeBron James Signs $104 Million Contract Extension with Los Angeles Lakers, Set to Make NBA History

LeBron James has signed a new contract with the Los Angeles Lakers for a sum of 104 million dollars (about 96.45 million euros) over two years, according to several media reports. LeBron James, who will turn 40 in December, will be able to realize his dream: to play with his son Bronny James, who was recently hired by the Californian franchise, and form the first father-son duo in NBA history.

The four-time NBA champion had recently decided not to activate the last year of his contract with the Lakers, where he arrived in 2018 for 41.4 million dollars (about 38.6 million euros). But since last week, when his son, 19, was chosen by the Lakers, rumors have multiplied of his imminent renewal with the Los Angeles franchise.

According to ESPN and The Athletic, LeBron James’ new contract includes a no-trade clause, meaning he cannot be moved to another club without his consent.
The NBA’s all-time leading scorer, LeBron James will be playing his 22nd season in 2024-25. He led the Lakers to a title in 2020, but the team has been significantly underperforming since then. This year, the Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
