SANTO DOMINGOThe Leidi Germán Foundation will hold the first awards ceremony for the judokas with the best scores from the various associations of this sport affiliated with the Dominican Federation of this discipline.
Former athlete Leidi Germán, president of the foundation that bears her name, said that the goal of rewarding athletes who have excelled as students is to encourage educational excellence through the practice of sports.
“We are committed to helping every athlete who has the desire and dedication to improve themselves every day to be able to do so regardless of their limitations,” Germán said.
He said that, through the foundation, he will be recognizing each year the efforts made by student athletes in their respective educational centers, highlighting their efforts as meritorious athletes and students.
The head of the Leidi Germán Foundation thanked the collaborators for making the initiative possible, among whom she mentioned Fedojudo, Joel Polanco, Emilio Frías, Luis Peláez, Juan Hubieres, Rizek Cacao and Eduardo Guzmán.
The Leidi Germán Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and development of sports in the Dominican Republic, as well as to carrying out all kinds of activities aimed at supporting underage athletes and other vulnerable groups in the country.
