The white jersey of Soudal Quick-Step confided his objectives before the start of the day: ““First of all, I have to stay where I am without losing time on Tadej (Pogacar), Jonas (Vingegaard) and Carapaz, that’s the main goal. If it’s a sprint finish with a small group, I’ll try to play for the win, of course, but we’ll have to see what happens with the breakaway, because there’s a good chance they’ll go all the way tomorrow. We’ll try to survive and get the best possible result.”
