Mano Menezes Takes on Coaching Role at Fluminense

Mano Menezes, 62, from Rio Grande do Sul, is the new coach of Fluminense, who are in last place in the Brazilian Championship, with only six points in 13 matches. For the first time in charge of the Tricolor carioca, Mano Menezes will continue to lead the team until the end of this year, according to the club itself on Monday afternoon (1st). The coach will replace Fernando Diniz, who was fired last week.

The new coach will be introduced to the team this Tuesday (2) at the Carlos Castilho Training Center (CT), in the west zone of Rio, where he will lead the team’s preparation. Mano’s debut is scheduled for next Thursday (4), in Flu’s clash against Internacional, at Maracanã, for the 14th round of the Brasileirão.

Mano Menezes’ last job was at Corinthians, who fired him in February. Former coach of the Brazilian national team (from 2010 to 2012), Menezes has three Copa do Brasil titles under his belt: the first with Corinthians (2008) and two with Cruzeiro (2017 and 2018). He also won two Campeonato Gaúcho, one Paulista, and one Mineiro.
