Marc Marquez Gets Penalty in Dutch MotoGP, 4th Finish Becomes 10th Mentality

Jakarta

Marc Marquez was given a 16 second penalty at the Dutch MotoGP. Marquez, who finished 4th, had to accept his position as 10th. Why?

Marc Marquez finished the race at the Dutch MotoGP in fourth position. Marquez had appeared promising to stand on the podium, unfortunately it could not be realized. But apparently the results are not final. After the race, FIM Stewards announced that Marquez had been given a 16 second penalty for violating tire pressure rules.

Reported SpeedweekMarquez’s tire pressure dropped by 0.01 bar on lap 15. This drop was below the specified rules. As a result, the Cervera-born rider was given a 16-second penalty a few hours after the race. Thus, Marquez had to accept his position dropping six ranks to 10th.

“Yes, it’s embarrassing, but the rules are the rules. I saw that during the race the tire pressure was very low, so I let Diggia pass so I could maintain the tire pressure. Then I was behind him throughout the race,” explained Marquez as reported by Speedweek.

“I was above the minimum pressure all the time, then I had contact with Bastianini in the first corner and he took me off the track. On that lap, I was one second slower and didn’t push in the next corner because I knew the characteristics of the tyre. Then the tyre pressure dropped and it took me two laps to get it back to where it was. That means I was below the minimum pressure for 15 laps,” he continued.

Assen MotoGP made a bad record for Marquez. Previously, at the Sprint Race, he made a mistake and failed to touch the finish line.

“We made mistakes on Sunday too, we are a team. I tried to control the tyre pressure, but it is undeniable that all the Ducati riders were very close to the limit. What I couldn’t control was the rider who crashed with me,” he said.

With this result, Marquez is still perched in third place in the standings. The rider who will defend the red Ducati next season has now pocketed 142 points below Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia.
