Marco Sforza Announces Candidacy for FIBS President: A New Hope for Italian Baseball

Marco Sforza, former player in the top division from his debut with Roma in 1985 until the end of his career in 2004, now a successful entrepreneur, has announced his candidacy for FIBS President in view of the next elections. After having supported Massimo De Luca in the past federal elections, a decisive step forward comes from Sforza (pictured with Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker) with his personal candidacy.

Why Marco Sforza is a candidate

“The movement has been in free fall for years,” he said during the presentation, “and something must be done to stop this negative trend that sees teams disappearing and technical quality decreasing. In my day, when they knew you played baseball, they asked you if you were a batter or a pitcher. Now there are those who ask: but do we play baseball and softball in Italy? I didn’t know that. The judgment that comes from outside is often merciless because the movement has fallen lower and lower, becoming almost self-referential. We must reverse the trend and we must do it immediately.” He did not put up any barriers regarding the other two candidacies already expressed for the presidency of FIBS. “I am ready to discuss with everyone for a change that will bring new life to the federation.”
