Marco Sforza Announces Candidacy for President of Italian Baseball Federation

Marco Sforza, a former player in the top division from his debut with Roma in 1985 until his career ended in 2004, now an entrepreneur, has announced his candidacy for president of the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS). “The movement is in free fall and something must be done to stop this negative trend that sees teams disappearing and technical quality decreasing,” Sforza said during the presentation. “In my day, when they knew you played baseball, they asked you if you were a batter or a pitcher. Now there are those who ask: ‘but do they play baseball and softball in Italy?’. The judgment that comes from the outside is often merciless because the movement has fallen lower and lower, becoming almost self-referential. We must reverse the trend and we must do it immediately.” On the other two candidacies already expressed for the presidency of the FIBS, Sforza did not put up barriers. “I am ready to discuss with everyone for a change that will bring new life to the federation.”
