Max Schlaudraff Shines at Southwest German Championships: Takes Runner-Up Title in U15 Age Group

Wallerfangen (pm/pf) – Max Schlaudraff from the 1st Fulda Judo Club took part in the Southwest German Championships in the U15 age group last weekend. In his strong tournament performance, he only had to admit defeat in the final and was able to deservedly celebrate the runner-up title.

The Southwest German Individual Championships for the U15 age group took place last weekend in Wallerfangen, Saarland. The judo associations of Rhineland, Saarland, Palatinate and Hesse determined this year’s champions at group level. In order to take part, you had to qualify by placing on the podium at the respective state individual championships. Max Schlaudraff from the 1st Fulda Judo Club secured one of the coveted starting places by coming third at the Hessian Individual Championships at the beginning of June.

Coach Mike Thiel was impressed by Schlaudraff’s rapid technical development in recent weeks. He started in Wallerfangen with no worries, was able to use his entire repertoire and beat strong opponents who had caused him problems in previous tournaments.

Max Schlaudraff started the first round of the up to 60 kilograms weight class with a bye. In the second round he had already been dealt a supposedly tough draw in the form of Rhineland champion Luca Ferdinand from SV Oberelbert. While Schlaudraff had to admit defeat to him in Bad Dürkheim, this time he took no chances and sent Ferdinand to the mat with an impressive O-uchi-gari. He also came out on top in the semi-final against Vincent Janssen from Frankfurter Turnverein 1860. After a Waza-Ari score for an attempted throw, he sealed everything with a hold and deservedly made it into the final. Here he had to admit defeat to Palatinate champion Silas Hartmann from the Speyer Judo Club and was deservedly able to take the runner-up title. A strong performance from Max Schlaudraff, who caused a stir particularly on the ground.
