Mazatlán Team Shines at State Judo Tournament

MAZATLÁN._ The Mazatlan team had an outstanding participation in the State Judo Tournament, organized by the State Association of the discipline, in cooperation with the Mexican Judo Federation, at the “María del Rosario Espinoza” High Performance Center, on June 29.

There were 14 representatives from the port who took part in the competition that brought together the best of Sinaloa in the Under 13, Under 15, Under 18 and Under 20 categories, accompanied by the coaches, José Manuel Núñez Gutiérrez and Óscar Meda Osuna.

The female power ‘patasalada’ was manifested in the state capital with the excellent participation of Samanta Jamileth Palomares Mendoza and Karina Ximena Meda Ibarra, who were crowned champions in the Under 18 category.

For the men, Jesús Yurem Sánchez Gordillo raised his hand in the same category.

Silver medallists went to Hector Rodolfo Sanchez Vasquez in the Under 21 category; Karla Janeth Duarte and Daniel Fernando Diaz Rodriguez in the Under 18 category; and Paulette Valverde, the latter in the Under 13 category.

For their part, Jesus Alejandro Vega Sanchez, Luis Fernando Contreras Salas, as well as Lizbeth America Hernandez Garzon, took third place, all three in the Under 18 category. In fourth place were Emiliano Castro Soto and Paulina Maria Fernanda Lerma Camacho.

The State Selective Tournament was held with the purpose of classifying the best judokas from Sinaloa for events such as the National Under 20 and Under 18 to be held in Jalisco, as well as the Under 15 and Under 13 to be held in Monterrey, Nuevo León.
