Mexican Athletes Headed to Paris 2024: Badminton and Table Tennis Representation

Badminton:

Originally from Nuevo León, he won a bronze medal at the 2023 Pan American Games in the individual event. After completing his participation in the XXVII Pan American Individual Championship in Guatemala, Luis Ramón Garrido Esquivel qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games via the international ranking of the Badminton World Federation (BWF). The athlete, champion at the San Salvador 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, closed the continental competition in the quarter-final round of the men’s individual event against Brazilian Olympian Ygor Coelho by a score of 2-1.

Table tennis:

Born in Puebla, he was recognized for his triumph of being the table tennis player with the greatest number of medals from the Mexican team at the Mayagüez 2010 games. Marcos Madrid got his ticket to the next Olympic Games in Paris 2024 after winning the table tennis final in the pre-Olympic tournament taking place in Lima, Peru.

The 20-year-old from Jalisco became the first woman born in Mexico to qualify for the Olympic Games in this discipline, after winning the final of the Olympic Qualification Tournament of the Americas held in Peru in her category and earning a ticket to Paris 2024.
