Miami Heat Finalizes Signing of Free Agent Alec Burks on One-Year Contract

The Miami Heat have finalized the signing of free agent Alec Burks on a one-year contract, according to the Miami Heat journalist. ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski.

Burks, who will turn 33 later this month, has 13 years of experience in the league, during which time he has played for seven different teams. Last season he played for the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks. In the 66 games he played between the two teams he averaged 10.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

His role in the Big Apple was irrelevant until the plague of injuries forced coach Tom Thibodeau to use him in the Conference Semifinals series against the Indiana Pacers. Despite recording 17.8 points in five games, the New Yorkers were eliminated.

Burks’ most likely role in Miami will be as a shooter off the bench. He has shot 38.3% from three-point range throughout his NBA career.
