Michal Hlavatý Joins FC Slovan Liberec: A New Chapter Begins

It has been speculated for a long time, Michal Hlavatý is on the radar of Liberec, which coach Kováč cares a lot about. Now it’s over, the twenty-six-year-old midfielder is already a Slovan player. He wants to experience success with the team. “I believe we will build something here that people will come to and remember after our careers,” he said in a video introducing the player to the club.

“In Liberec, I was approached by the project that is being created here and the whole team of people, from the implementation team to the top management. They are people who have achieved something in football and can achieve something. I can improve under them,” said the midfielder, who has 116 league appearances and 14 goals to his name.

Hlavatý signed a contract in Liberec until 2028. “The big attraction was the club’s ambitions. In Pardubice we were playing for survival and with all due respect I wanted to move on. The Liberec project excited me, I want to play in higher waters and experience the success that footballers do it for.” he added.

Liberec was tussling with Baník for Hlavaté. In the end, it was decided that Slovan would be coached by Radoslav Kováč, who had led it in Pardubice for the past two years. “Another factor was the arrival of coach Kováč and his implementation team, with whom I developed an above-standard relationship. We sat down on the human side,” the midfielder from Liberec already confirmed.

The young midfielder will move to Liberec. “I have a wife and a little baby. We will be moving, we are looking for an apartment in Liberec, I also discussed it with the boys. As for the feedback, they are very satisfied here, I can imagine living here even after my career,” he said.

In Pardubice, he played the role of a leader in the cabin and on the field. Coach Kováč expects a similar role from him. “The coach and I talked about the fact that I had a role in Pardubice, that the team relied on me both game-wise and mentally. I hope to create a similar position here. But I don’t want to come and play the big leader, I have to build that role.” he commented.

According to the club’s general director, he should also belong to the leaders Jan Nezmar. “Michal is an experienced player who is used to a leadership position. We are forming a new team here with a very low average age, and we expect constant and high-quality performances from Michal.” he said.
