Milwaukee Bucks Quietly Add Taurean Prince to Roster in Eastern Conference Arms Race

While several Eastern Conference teams have managed to seriously strengthen themselves since the opening of the transfer market, the Bucks had remained very discreet until now. But they have just added a rather solid role player to their roster: Taurean Prince.

The news was announced by Shams Charania of The Athletic. Taurean Prince joins the Bucks after a season with the Los Angeles Lakers. He will be reunited with Darvin Ham, the former coach of the Californian team who has just returned to Milwaukee as an assistant.

The details of the new contract have not been directly communicated, but it is said to be a minimum of one year for veterans.

Prince averaged 8.9 points and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 39.6 percent from 3-point land in 78 games for the Lakers last season. He’s now expected to play a strong role in the Bucks frontcourt.

Taurean Prince is coming off a season with 8.9 points and 2.9 rebounds at 39.6% 3-point shooting. He has played 78 games including 49 as a starter, for an average of 27 minutes. With Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Bucks, he will try to make a real place for himself in Doc Rivers’ rotation. His experience will be an asset for him, because we know that Doc likes to rely on his elders.

Will this signing allow the aging Bucks to compete with the very best in the East? We doubt it will be enough. The conference has really strengthened behind Boston (the Knicks and the Sixers in particular), and the Bucks no longer seem to represent the primary threat to the Celtics, unlike a year ago.
