Mongolia announces 42 athletes for Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Beijing, Jul 5 (EFE).- The Mongolian National Olympic Committee announced on Friday the list of 42 athletes who will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will be held from July 26 to August 11 and from August 28 to September 8, respectively.

A total of 33 athletes will represent Mongolia in nine disciplines during the Olympic Games.

Among the most notable sports are marathon running, wrestling, judo, cycling and swimming.

The Mongolian delegation was present today at a flag presentation ceremony by the country’s president, Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, who awarded the national flag to the flag bearers, the athlete Bat-Ochiryn Ser-Od, who will compete in his sixth Olympic Games, and the boxer Oyuntsetseg Yesugen, who is making her Olympic debut, reported the state agency Montsame.

As for the Paralympic Games, the Asian country will be represented by nine athletes who will participate in six disciplines, including swimming, archery and weightlifting.

Mongolia has been a full member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 1962, making its debut at the summer event at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.

In total, the Asian nation has participated in 28 editions, both summer and winter, accumulating a total of 30 medals (2 gold, 11 silver and 17 bronze) in 16 different sports.

Mongolia has a strong tradition in contact sports, such as boxing, judo and wrestling, from which they have won 28 of their 30 medals. EFE
