Mpetshi Perricard unrolls against Nishioka and quietly joins the 3rd round

The Frenchman easily beat the Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (90th), (6-4, 6-1, 6-2), this Thursday at Wimbledon.

Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, ranked 58th in the world and a qualifier, easily qualified for the third round of Wimbledon on Thursday by beating Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (ranked 90th) 6-4, 6-1, 6-2.

As expected, the Frenchman stunned his opponent with his serve: 69% of his serve did not come back to him, with 27 aces. “He really expressed the fact that he was pissed off, angry, overwhelmed by it (the services) so I had even more confidence in that sector. The fact that he showed it helped me, I said to myself +we have to continue, we have to steamroller, we have to walk all over him+. And I really played my game well.”analyzed Mpetshi Perricard.

He also saved the two break points he had to defend and hit a total of 50 winners. Mpetshi Perricard is playing his first Wimbledon at the age of 20 and had never won a Grand Slam match, with two participations so far at Roland-Garros (2023, 2024). He will face the Finn Emil Ruusuvuori (87th) to try to reach the round of 16.
