MR calls for recount of votes for the Chamber in Brussels

On 28 June, through lawyer Jean Bourtembourg, the head of the list, Valérie Glatigny, and the last on the list, Viviane Teitelbaum, submitted a complaint to the Chamber. They are contesting the allocation of the last seat in the capital, where the MR and the PS are tied with four deputies each. The difference in votes determining the allocation of this last seat is only 392. However, problems were noted in the canton of Anderlecht, in an office in the canton of Brussels, an office in the canton of Woluwe-Saint-Lambert and an office in the canton of Saint-Josse.

Team Fouad Ahidar has also filed a complaint regarding Brussels. It is demanding a recount of the votes cast in the municipalities of Saint-Josse, Jette, Brussels-City, Molenbeek, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert and Anderlecht, as well as new elections. It is citing, among other things, the attribution to young people under 18 of a card allowing them to vote in an election other than that of the European Parliament, malfunctions of the voting machines and the failure to deliver election notices to certain people.

The House will hold its first session after the elections on Thursday. It will set up the credentials committees which must decide on the validity of the June 9 vote within a week.
