Naco Judo Club Dominates National District Judo Open, Honors Alberto Rodríguez

SANTO DOMINGOThe Naco Judo Club took first place overall in the Judo Open held on Saturday by the Judo Association of the National District, with a special dedication to Alberto Rodríguez, director of the National Institute of Physical Education (Inefi).

The judokas of the Naco Club added a total of 2,987 points, the result of 29 gold medals, eight silver and seven bronze, by dominating the cadet-senior categories, with 9 gold medals and one bronze (901 points), as well as the pre-infant B, with 11 gold medals, six silver and seven bronze (1,167 points) and the infantil A and Infantil B, with 9 gold, two silver and three bronze, for 923 points.

Second place was won by Club Casa Nacional, with 13 gold medals and 16 bronze medals, accumulating 1,460 points.

The National Judo Championship achieved second place in cadet-senior, with 6 gold medals, six silver medals and three bronze medals, for 663 points, as well as in Infantil A-Infantil B, it came second with 5 gold medals, six silver medals and three bronze medals, for a total of 563 points.

The third place trophy went to the representation of the Villa Francisca Club, which accumulated 863 points, achieving 8 gold medals, six silver medals and three bronze medals.

Villa Francisca achieved second place in pre-infant B, with 531 points, the result of five gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal.

Opening ceremony

The National District Judo Association (Asojudina) presented a statuette of recognition to Alberto Rodríguez, director of the National Institute of Physical Education (Inefi) at the opening ceremony of the National District Judo Open at the National House of that sport at the Olympic Center.

The award, which highlights the initiative of the director of Inefi in his interest in bringing judo to schools, was headed by Socrates Cuello, president of the Judo Association of the National District; Gilberto Garcia, president of the Dominican Judo Federation; the immortal of Sport, sensei Juan Chalas, as well as Mazahiro Takagi, ambassador of Japan in the country; General Delio Colon, president of the Military and Police Sports Confederation, as well as Luisa Martinez, general secretary of Fedojudo.

Judo is more than a sport, it is a training tool to form better citizens,” said Alberto Rodriguez, who added: “We have created a massive judo project in schools and I am very pleased to support this type of event in which children participate with their parents in a healthy environment.”

More than 230 athletes of different ages took part in the National District Judo Open, representing a total of nine clubs and schools in the National District.

Sócrates Cuello had words of gratitude for the parents’ association of each of the participating clubs, as well as for Fedojudo and the companies that made the event possible.

“We are also giving a fair recognition to Alberto Rodríguez, for his dedication and effort to ensure that judo continues to grow in schools,” said the president of Asojudina.
