Rowing world champion Oliver Zeidler got off to a confident start in the single sculls in the preliminary round. The skateboarders, on the other hand, were hampered by the rain in Paris as they started the competition.

Zeidler dominates rowing heats

Rowing world champion Oliver Zeidler has easily overcome the first hurdle on the way to the medal he was hoping for at the Olympic Games in Paris. The top favorite in the singles started on Saturday morning with a confident preliminary heat victory in the Vaires-sur-Marne water sports stadium and moved into the quarter-finals. Zeidler will be in action again on Tuesday. The 28-year-old clearly took the lead of the field shortly after the start in the pouring rain and gave his competitors no chance. In his second Olympic appearance, Zeidler, who surprisingly failed in the semi-finals as the favorite at his debut in Tokyo three years ago, did not have to reach his full potential against weak opponents.

Skateboard competition postponed to Monday

Due to rain in Paris, the men’s street skateboarding competition at the Olympic Games has been postponed from Saturday to Monday. “Due to the poor weather conditions yesterday evening and after a meeting with all relevant organizers this morning, it was decided to postpone the men’s street skateboarding event,” the organizing committee said in a press release. The weather in Paris is expected to improve significantly from Sunday. Germans will not be taking part in the street skateboarding event. The competitions will take place on the Place de la Concorde.
