Olympia Compact: German women’s football team reaches the quarter-finals

Slalom canoeist Elena Lilik wins the silver medal in the single canoe! The 25-year-old from Augsburg completed a flawless final run at the Stade Nautique de Vaires-sur-Marne. The 2021 Canadian World Champion completed the whitewater course with 23 gates in 103.54 seconds. As in the kayak, Australian Jessica Fox took the Olympic victory in 101.06 seconds.

Already in the semifinals, Olympic debutante Lilik had cheered at the finish about her first participation in the final at the Summer Games. After all, her husband Leon, mother Daniela and her younger sister Emily, also already a top canoeist, were among the approximately 10,000 spectators in the stands. Dad Thomas watched the action directly on the course as the national kayak coach. He has been training his daughter, who is one of the few to compete in both disciplines, in the kayak since 2020.
