Olympiad | Nosková about the trip to Paris: It’s a little disrespectful to the Olympics that we can’t be here a week in advance

Paris (From our correspondent) – She did not look for excuses for her defeat in her late arrival in Paris, after all, traveling is a fixed part of the life of a professional tennis player. And so Linda Nosková honestly said about her first performance at the Olympics: “The opponent was better than me in more or less everything. He has a better game on clay and I wasn’t quite feeling myself today, which showed.”

However, it is a big pity about the unused break points from the beginning of the match. “I could have been 3-0 up and it would have been different,” she knew. But you know the “if”…

He hasn’t said goodbye to Paris yet. On Monday, she will play doubles with Karolína Muchová, which will be such a punk from both sides. “We let it run its course. A few seconds before the start, we will agree who will be on the forehand and who will be on the backhand,” says Nosková.

They did not have time to train together, because even Nosková did not have time to practice alone at the Roland Garros complex due to her arrival on Friday and the rain on Saturday. “But traveling was difficult. It’s a bit disrespectful to the Olympics that we can’t be here the week before the tournament and the week after to enjoy it a bit when it’s once every four years. We tennis players are used to a busy schedule, but this is a slightly different event,” Nosková regretted.

No, of course she played the tournament in Prague voluntarily, but she defended last year’s final, i.e. a decent portion of points for the ranking. In addition, after the grass part of the season, tennis players had to quickly get used to the orange clay.

“I think that tennis players would only be happy if they had at least a week before the Olympics to prepare, so that the Olympics would look like that. And not to rush from one surface to another. Other athletes prepare for the Olympics for four years, hoping to get here and perform at their best. I’m not saying that we don’t either, but it’s a bit more chaotic,” describes Nosková honestly.

However, he takes the participation in Paris as an experience. “The Olympics have a lot of weight. I was really looking forward to coming here, if only because of the experience and the fact that I got here. I haven’t been doing well on clay for some time now, so I wasn’t expecting any kind of result. But it is completely different from the Billie Jean King Cup, where we also represent. It’s weird to be in a Grand Slam venue and have a bit of a relaxing tournament where everyone is in teams and it doesn’t heat up so much.”
