Only three games lost: Niemeier impresses at the start

After Laura Siegemund, Niemeier is the second German player to make it to the second round. Two years ago, she celebrated her greatest success at a major by reaching the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. Now she will face Elina Switolina from Ukraine or Magda Linette from Poland.

The 24-year-old had to wait a long time for her performance, in which she impressed with her power but also with her enthusiasm for playing. Niemeier was originally supposed to play on Tuesday, but her match was postponed due to rain. Rainfall again caused delays on Wednesday, but the 90th ranked player in the world didn’t let this bother her.
