Organizers announce important news about Hurkacz’s second match at Wimbledon Tennis

Hubert Hurkacz (7th ATP) is counting on a successful performance at Wimbledon. Not so long ago, he played in the final of the tournament in Halle, where he lost only to the leader of the world lists Jannik Sinner. Thanks to this, he moved to the highest position in his career in the ATP ranking. On Thursday, he will have a chance to enter the third round of a tournament of Grand Slam rank. First, however, he must defeat Arthur Fils (34th ATP).

The first match was not without adventures. Hurkacz unexpectedly lost the first set to Moldovan Radu Albot (144. ATP) 5:7. Later, the match had to be interrupted due to rain. However, after returning to the court, the Pole showed complete dominance. He won the next three sets to four, three and again to four, and after 2 hours and 39 minutes, he secured promotion.

His next rival Arthur Fils fought for it a little shorter. The 20-year-old from France defeated the Swiss Dominic Stricker (149th ATP) in a little over two hours 6:3, 6:2, 3:6, 6:4. For him, reaching the second round is the best achievement on Wimbledon courts so far. A year ago, he finished after just one match. He has never advanced beyond the second round in a Grand Slam tournament. He will face Hurkacz for the first time in his life. The winner of this duel for the fourth round will play the Czech Tomas Machac (39th ATP) or Roman Safiullin (44th ATP) from Russia.

The Hurkacz-Fils match is scheduled for Thursday, July 4. The organizers have already announced the official schedule, from which we learn that the gentlemen will step onto court number 2 as the first in the session at 12:00. The time is therefore quite early, but Hurkacz started playing with Albot at exactly the same time. Right after the end of this clash, Ons Jabeur (10th WTA) will play Robin Montgomery (161st WTA), and at the end, Jelena Rybakina (4th WTA) and Laura Siegemund (72nd WTA) will report to the same court.
