Oshae Brissett and Kyle Alexander Released from Canadian Basketball Team Camp Ahead of Paris Olympics

(Toronto) Oshae Brissett and Kyle Alexander have been released from the Canadian basketball team’s camp ahead of the Paris Olympics, Canada Basketball announced Wednesday.

Published at 7:39 p.m.

The organization said Brissett asked to step down to focus on the NBA’s free-agent market.

Brissett averaged 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game last season with the defending champion Boston Celtics.

Canada Basketball also announced that Leonard Miller, who was at camp but not in contention for a spot on the national roster, has also left.

The announcements come after Team Canada general manager Rowan Barrett confirmed that Andrew Wiggins of the Golden State Warriors would not participate in camp despite being selected. Zach Edey, recently drafted ninth overall by the Memphis Grizzlies, also withdrew last week.

There are 16 players left in camp. Quebecer Luguentz Dort is there, while a friendly match against the United States will take place next Wednesday in Las Vegas.
