Paris 2024 Olympics: Stephen Curry “hopes” that Kamala Harris will win the US presidential election

When two world events collide. Stephen Curry, one of the stars of Team USA in basketball at the Olympic Games, gave his support Thursday to the Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris, in the run-up to the American presidential election on November 5.

Like the French footballers at the last Euro football championship, the 36-year-old player was questioned about the political situation in his country at a press conference this Wednesday at the Palais des Congrès, where his teammate Kevin Durant was also present.

“It’s an interesting moment for our country, for sure, after the support given by Joe Biden. Vice President Harris is trying to bring her energy to the campaign, and I hope she’s on the ticket to win the election,” said the leader of this new “dream team” version 2024. “It’s very, very important, to say the least,” added the man who confided his desire to get into politics after his basketball career last March.

A strong endorsement from the number 30 of the Golden State Warriors, a franchise from the city of San Francisco, the stronghold of the one who is very likely to be the Democratic candidate who will face Donald Trump in November. “She represents the Bay Area (Editor’s note: San Francisco) she is a great support for us. I want to give her that energy back, here, before the next crucial months for our country and the direction it will take. I am really happy with the path that is opening up to her.”

“Uniting the country”

In this turbulent political period across the Atlantic, Stephen Curry hopes to use the Paris Olympics to bring Americans together. “I hope it’s a good way to do our part to unite the country. Sporting success brings people together. For her right now, given what’s coming next, it’s also about positive energy and optimism, given how divided our country is,” added the man who is considered one of the best three-point shooters in history.

A hero of the Warriors for over ten years now, Stephen Curry is preparing to participate in his first Olympic Games with Team USA, a team that is overwhelmingly favored to win a 17th Olympic gold medal, including a fifth in a row.

This star-studded team, including LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid, will face Serbia and triple MVP Nikola Jokic on Sunday in Lille, for their entry into the Olympic tournament.
