Paris 2024 Olympics, tennis: Clara Burel and Diane Gravecha will form the second French doubles pair

The French Tennis Federation made official the second women’s pair on Thursday for the Paris 2024 Games. Clara Burel (45th, 23 years old) and Varvara Gravecha (70th, 23 years old), already entered in singles, join the first French pair, Caroline Garcia (24th, 30 years old) and Diane Parry (53rd, 21 years old).

As for their male counterparts, Ugo Humbert (16th, 26 years old) and Arthur Fils (34th, 20 years old), both friends in life, will be teaming up for the first time in doubles. On June 21, the first men’s pair was made official, associating Fabien Reboul and Édouard Roger-Vasselin. To win a medal this year, the four French players could face the (highly) anticipated Spanish pair Alcaraz-Nadal. The events will take place between July 27 and August 4.

The two doubles teams will try to get back to winning ways after a Tokyo 2020 Games where no French player stood out. For better memories, we have to go back to the silver medal won by the Tsonga-Llodra duo and the bronze won by the Gasquet-Benneteau duo at the London 2012 Games.

In total, 10 French players will be competing on the clay courts of Roland-Garros from July 27 to August 4. In the meantime, the French selection should announce the mixed doubles team before July 24.
