Pelicans Bolster Roster with Signing of Trey Jemison After Grizzlies Waiver

The New Orleans Pelicans have signed Trey Jemison, a player who was on waivers after being released by the Memphis Grizzlies, as reported by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

The Tennessee organization opted to waive the 24-year-old inside player to make room for Jay Huff. Jemison had a two-way contract with Memphis, a team with which he signed a 10-day contract in January before ultimately having a two-way agreement.

Given the many injuries the Grizzlies had during the 2023-24 season, Jemison had his place to average 7.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per night in the 23 games played (24.9 minutes per night).

For the Louisiana organization, it means adding some more depth to their inside game. After losing Jonas Valanciunas, they acquired Daniel Theis and Karlo Matkovic in free agency and selected Yves Missi in the draft.

Jemison, who would occupy the fourth spot in the Pelicans’ paint, will thus occupy the team’s third two-way contract, as Malcolm Hill and Jamal Cain enjoy the other two.
