Perry scores 11 points in Montenegro’s first loss in the Olympic Qualifiers

This Tuesday has begun the Pre-Olympic basketball to decide which four teams complete the list of participants in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Unicaja officially arrives with two representatives – in addition to Olek Balcerowski – and the first has already made an appearance. Kendrick Perry wanted to lead Montenegrobut found themselves facing a Brazil that knew how to appear in the most decisive moments (81-72).

It was not an easy match for the Cajista point guard nor for the rest of his team. Brazil was the most important obstacle to overcome in this first group stage, but now They are obliged to win against Cameroon in the second round. Even dominating the scoreboard for 30 minutes was not enough. Bruno Caboclo’s 25 points were impossible to beat.

Bad shot

Perry’s game started well, fluid in attack and accurate in defence against a Marcelinho Huertas whose tricks he already knew. From then on, he began to lose confidence in his shot and much of his accuracy. He leaves this first game with 11 points, 2 assists and a very low 4/18 in field goals.. He also found no solutions in the final minutes, apart from an assist from Nikola Vucevic. Montenegro was much worse off with the Cajista on the bench.

With this first match over, Kendrick Perry and his teammates now have to think about the next challenge because that’s what the Pre-Olympic tournament is like. This Wednesday, also at 2:30 p.m., they will face Cameroon to try to seal their place in the semi-finals, where the level will rise a lot.
