Peru’s Delegation for Paris 2024 Olympic Games: A Celebration of Culture and Excellence

At the Miraflores Municipality, a flag-off was held to farewell the delegation of 26 athletes who will represent Peru at the Olympic Games. María Luisa Doig, from Fencing, and Juan Miguel Postigos, from Judo, were selected by the Peruvian Olympic Committee to carry the national flag across the Seine River during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

The Peruvian representation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will proudly display the chacana on their uniforms, an ancestral symbol of Andean culture. This emblem, also known as the Andean cross, symbolizes the connection between humans and nature, as well as the union of the spiritual and earthly worlds. The design was created by Monica Gallese, of the Fortuna brand.

Present were the athletes Alonso Correa and Sol Aguirre from surfing, Inés Castillo from Badminton; the president of the COP, Dr. Renzo Manyari Velazco; the congresswoman Diana Gonzales; the president of the Peruvian Sports Institute, Federico Tong Hurtado; the mayor of Miraflores, Carlos Canales Anchorena; Leyla Chihuán, head of the Paris 2024 mission; Luisa Villar, president of the National Paralympic Association of Peru; Cecilia Tait, member of the International Olympic Committee; Francisco Boza, Olympic medalist from Los Angeles 84, among others.

It is worth remembering that the Olympic Games will start next Friday, July 26, and will end on Sunday, August 11 of this year.
