French champion in singles (Christo), in doubles and with their club Fos-sur-Mer, qualifications for the Olympic Games in singles (Toma Junior) and in doubles: the Popov brothers have so far had a perfect year, marked by prestigious victories (semi-final at the All Englandsuccess over the outgoing Olympic champion). Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, and arriving in France in 2004 at the ages of 6 and 2, Toma Junior – aka Tomi – and his younger brother Christo are firmly established in the world top 30 in badminton.
The realization of a family project imagined by father Toma, called “team Popov”. After an Olympic “marathon” qualification and a stormy outcome with the imbroglio and then the repechage of the other pair Ronan Labar – Lucas Corvée, the Foix brothers will enter the competition tomorrow. As usual, they will speak to each other in Bulgarian on the field.
