Portugal-France: six out of ten French people say they are dissatisfied with the Blues before their Euro quarter-final

Les Bleus are struggling to convince in this Euro. Despite qualifying for the quarter-finals at the expense of Belgium on Tuesday, Didier Deschamps’ men are struggling to create real excitement around them. This is evidenced by the latest Odoxa sports barometer that we are revealing to you this Friday morning.

According to the survey, conducted on July 3 and 4 among 1,005 people representative of the French population and 454 football fans, 63% of French people are dissatisfied with the results of the Blues and 59% are dissatisfied with the matches as spectators.

The narrow victories of the Blues (1-0) against Austria and Belgium and the two draws (0-0 and 1-1) against Poland did not excite the French, far from it. For those interviewed, the difficulty of the Blues is mainly due to the individual commitment and the level of the players.

Mbappé and Thuram disappoint

Half of French people and football fans are satisfied with the tactics and team compositions proposed by Didier Deschamps, but a majority say they are dissatisfied with the combativeness and mental level of the players.

Also, the performances of Kylian Mbappé, who only scored one goal on penalty, and Marcus Thuram, who still has not found the back of the net, arouse the most dissatisfaction. Indeed, respectively 56 and 55% of French people say they are dissatisfied with their performances. Behind, Antoine Griezmann (54%) and Ousmane Dembélé (51%) also disappoint.

Hope remains

Conversely, the French appreciated those of Ngolo Kanté (86%), Mike Maignan (76%) and Theo Hernandez (76%). And optimism is still high because 62% of the French and 72% of football fans see the Blues eliminating Portugal tonight and continuing their journey in this German Euro.

However, only 34% of French people and 46% of football fans see Les Bleus going all the way in the competition and winning the final in Berlin on July 14.
