Porzingis’ teammate Tatum will sign the biggest contract in NBA history

Boston “Celtics”, the champion team of the National Basketball Association (NBA) last season, which is also represented by the Latvian Kristaps Porzingis, reached an agreement on the extension of the contract with one of the leaders, Jason Tatum, for five years, according to several US media.

According to “The Athletic” and ESPN, the contract will be concluded for the maximum possible amount of 314 million US dollars (292.2 million euros), which is a new league record. It will take effect in the 2025/2026 season, keeping Tatum in the team until 2030.

The biggest contract previously belonged to another Celtics player, Jaylen Brown, who last year agreed to a five-year contract extension worth a total of $304 million.

Last season, Tatum averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. In the playoffs, Tatum averaged 25 points, 9.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game.

It has already been reported that on Sunday “Celtics” also agreed on a four-year contract extension with guard Derrick White.

All five players from last season – Tatum, Brown, White, Porzingis and Jrue Holiday – have contracts for next season as well.
