Pramac Racing Confirms Switch to Yamaha in 2025 Following Ducati Disappointment

Jakarta

Pramac Racing confirmed to cross over to Yamaha starting in 2025. The decision was influenced by Ducati’s decision to promote Marc Marquez instead Jorge Martin.

Pramac has ended its nearly two-decade partnership with Ducati, with the Italian team set to use Yamaha engines after signing a deal believed to be for seven years.

According to gossip, Pramac was disappointed because the Italian manufacturer indicated that it wanted to stop supplying factory-spec bikes, which would then be given to VR46. However, it turns out there was another factor behind Pramac’s move to Yamaha.

Pramac boss Paolo Campinoti said he felt let down by Ducati for turning their back on Jorge Martin. The Borgo Panigale team has already “dumped” Martin twice, when they chose Enea Bastianini and now Marquez.

“We are very confident in the Yamaha project. We are very confident in Yamaha’s capacity and ability to recover. We thought our time at Ducati was over and we had some options that we didn’t share, we didn’t agree and being a junior team at Ducati was our dream,” Campinoti told MotoGP.com.

“Also, to bring young riders to the factory team is our mission. We have achieved it many times but this year we are a bit disappointed; not disappointed because that is not the right term but we feel we have been let down,” he said.

“We thought Martin was a better candidate to promote. We had seen some strategic changes that no longer suited us. We then had another big opportunity so we decided to go for it,” Campinoti added.

After failing to get promoted to Ducati, Jorge Martin opting to join Aprilia on a multi-year deal, Martin is set to partner Marco Bezzecchi, who was snapped up from VR46.
