The 15-year-old Mia Schipper of the Budo Community Senshu (BGS) Emmerich has passed the black belt (1st Dan) exam in judo.

Participation in the German Championship in Leipzig

In Düsseldorf, the high school student had to demonstrate and explain the techniques, principles and philosophy of martial arts in front of a three-person examination committee made up of high-ranking judoka. The examination lasted over five hours, including waiting times, and demanded everything from the student. Due to her strong fighting performance, which enabled her to make it to the German Championships in Leipzig this year, the Emmerich native was given the opportunity to take the 1st Dan examination before she turned 16.

Regularly on the mat with training partner Frederik Stoffels

Mia Schipper and her training partner Frederik Stoffels spent countless hours on the mats in the dojo on Schulstrasse. They had to be able to demonstrate over 60 judo techniques in a masterful manner. The young athlete also knew how to deal well with criticism from the coaching team, which includes her father Emile Schipper, Dirk Schaap and Fabian Dargel, and to use it to constantly improve.

Mia Schipper first stood on the judo mat at the age of five and is now one of the trainers at BGS Emmerich. Whether it’s special training sessions, courses, competitions or leisure events, the young athlete is always there to support her club with dedication and commitment.

Six judoka at BGS Emmerich have a black belt

This year, the BGS Emmerich is celebrating its tenth anniversary and is proud to have already led six judoka to their first black belt, including Mia Schipper.

However, the 1st Dan is not the end for Mia Schipper, but rather the beginning of a new chapter in her sporting journey. As a black belt holder, the 15-year-old now also takes on the responsibility of passing on her knowledge and experience to the next generation of judoka and promoting the values of respect, courtesy and fairness that characterize the sport.
