Quebecers Cassandre Prosper and Nirra Fields among Canadian Women’s Basketball Team heading to Paris Olympics

TORONTO – Quebecers Cassandre Prosper and Nirra Fields have been named to the Canadian women’s basketball team that will compete at the Paris Olympics.

Prosper, a sophomore at Notre Dame, will be making her Olympic debut at age 19. Fields, a 30-year-old veteran, was selected for the 2020 and 2016 Olympics.

Kayla Alexander, Natalie Achonwa and Kia Nurse will also headline the Canadian team.

Achonwa will become the first Canadian to compete in women’s basketball at the Olympic Games four times.

The fifth-ranked Canadians qualified for the Games in February at an Olympic qualifying tournament in Hungary. Canada went 1-2 but was helped by Spain’s victory over host Hungary in the tournament’s final game.

Canada will be looking to redeem itself after a disappointing ninth-place finish at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
