Rising Star: 15-Year-Old Zoe Garcia Achieves Black Belt in Judo

A new black belt has been added to the long list of the Judo School of the Pays d’Olmes. Zoé Garcia, just 15 years old, has achieved the major goal of the judoka. At the Doctor-Dhomps dojo, in front of all her friends, the black belt was given to her by Jacques Léost, the president of the Judo School of the Pays d’Olmes, and Thomas Munoz, the judo teacher. Zoé Garcia has been practicing judo since the age of 7.

“As a child, I was afraid of people, judo helped me a lot to overcome it and today, I have acquired mental strength, never giving up, believing in myself, and the black belt is an achievement” . Zoé is in 3rd at the Espoir judo center in Jolimont. This year, she finished fifth at the French championships in under 57 kg. “I am ready to make sacrifices and a lot of sport, to run, to train and to try to participate in the European championships, I am not going to give up. Sometimes I cry, but there are also tears of joy”. Zoé Garcia recognizes “that there are people who are not as lucky as I am to be in a good club”. Jacques Léost salutes Zoé’s journey. “She worked hard and well to obtain this black belt, it demonstrates the great vitality of the club.”

This result and supreme sporting grade of the judoka reflects on the club, but also on Zoé’s village, Le Carla-de-Roquefort.
