Rodri: Against Germany? Who’s Afraid?

Cologne

Rodri Hernandez admits Germany is a tough team. But, Spain is not afraid and is ready to perform optimally for a ticket to the Euro 2024 semifinals.

Rodri was the actor behind Spain’s qualification to the Euro 2024 Quarterfinals, Monday (1/7/2024) early morning WIB. He scored the equalizer in the 35th minute after Robin Le Normand’s own goal put Spain behind in the 18th minute.

Spain went on a rampage in the second half, scoring three goals from Fabian Ruiz, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo to win 4-1. Spain ended their winless run in the knockout stages of a major tournament since Euro 2012.

They qualified for the quarter-finals to face hosts Germany at Stuttgart Arena, Saturday (6/7/2024) early morning WIB. Germany is of course favored to advance considering they have “won” the support of the fans.

In addition, Germany is also motivated to make up for two defeats to Spain in major tournaments, namely the Euro 2008 final and the 2010 World Cup semifinals.

Rodri knows that Germany are not easy opponents to beat and Spain does have a poor record when facing the host in major tournaments. But, Rodri is confident that the Matadors have a quality squad to be able to win.

Moreover, when it reaches the knockout phase, all teams are considered equally strong and have the same chance of winning.

“We know whether this (quarter-final) draw is good or bad. All the teams here are good,” Rodri was quoted as saying. Mirror.

“We’ll see. Germany are certainly very strong at home. But we’re not afraid,” Rodri added.

“If we want to qualify, we have to perform well. We will try to do our best with what we have.”

“The game against Germany is certainly different from the game against Georgia.”
