Romania’s national team has received a lot of praise after photos emerged of how they left the dressing room at Munich’s Allianz Arena after their 3-0 elimination from the European Championship by the Netherlands. Coach Edward Iordanescu’s squad also left a letter of thanks for the German hosts.
The Netherlands stood in the way of Romania’s place in the quarterfinals with a resounding victory. Reaching the round of 16 at the European Championship is the country’s best result in a final tournament in 24 years.
The disappointment after the elimination must have been great on Tuesday evening. Nevertheless, the Romanian team left their dressing room spotless. It earned the team the necessary compliments.
“Perfect” and “stylish” are many short comments under photos of the incredibly clean dressing room that were posted on social media. “This is class. Romania, you have a team to be really proud of,” writes another on X.
Romania also wrote a letter, expressing their gratitude to the German hosts for their hospitality during the tournament. “EURO 2024 was for all of us one of the most important football experiences so far and we are happy that the stage on which it took place was the German one,” the Romanians begin their letter. “Every match, every emotion, every experience brought us together and made us feel the magic of football.”
“We leave Germany with the thought that we gave everything for Romania and we are grateful for everything we experienced during the weeks we spent here. It was an honour to be part of the big family of European football. Signed: The Romanian national football team.”
