Sabadell shoots up its profits by 40.3% in the midst of the BBVA takeover bid and reaches 800 million in the first half

Barcelona Banco Sabadell chains record after record. Although last year it managed to surpass the best results in its history, now, in the midst of a hostile takeover by BBVA, the entity is on its way to doing it again. Sabadell has shot up its year-on-year profit by 40.3% during the first half of this year, reaching a historic record of 791 million euros. The figures that the entity has presented to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) show its growth in recent times: during the first six months of the year, they earned only 68 million less than in all of 2022.

Specifically, Sabadell has improved profitability to 13.1% and has announced that it will pay shareholders 2,900 million in two years, tripling what has been distributed in recent periods and increasing the amount announced in May by 500 million . In addition, during this same time, the interest margin has risen by 9.8% to 2,493 million and commissions have fallen by 3.3% to 674 million, thus placing the income of the banking business at a total of 3,168 million, 6.8% more than last year.
