Serie A on Sky: what’s changing

From next season (and for the next 5 seasons) su Sky Sport returns with the big matches, with at least 30 of the best 76 games of the championshipor including 4 direct clashes between the big teams, all also available in 4K. For each matchday, live on Sky Sport 3 Serie A matches with three evenings of Italian football:

Saturday at 8.45pm
the novelty of the Sunday at 6.00 pm
Monday at 8.45pm

The matches will be available on Sky Sport 24 and in the Skylights Room on skysport.it highlights of all 380 matches of the championship.

When does Serie A 2024/25 start?

The Serie A League has made official the start of the new season will be on the weekend of August 17-18with the second and third matchdays scheduled for the following two weekends in August before the international break.

When does Serie A 2024/25 end?

The championship will end on 25 maggio 2025after 38 days and 380 matches to decide who will be champion of Italy, who will go to Europe, who will stay up and who will be relegated.

When will there be breaks?

As usual, there will be 4 windows in which the championship will stop to make room for the Nations League and 2026 World Cup qualification matches:

Sunday is indicated as the reference date for the breaks, but as usual the national team matches will be played both in the week before and in the days after the indicated Sunday.

No winter break

Serie A 2024/25 also does not have a break planned during the winter months: the championship will be played regularly even during the Christmas period (December 22, December 29 and January 5).

Only one midweek round

In Serie A 2024/25 there is only one midweek round, it will be the tenth matchday, scheduled for October 30, 2024.

Asymmetrical calendar

Also for the next season the Serie A calendar will be asymmetrical: the sequence of matches in the second half of the season will in fact be different from those in the first half of the seasona, with a minimum of 8 days between the first and second leg matches against the same opponent

Why the asymmetrical calendar?

The main objective achieved through this type of calendar is to respect an ever-increasing number of coincidences linked to public order reasonsto the growing number of European competitions racesto the local events and at club needstrying to maximize television audiences and stadium attendance.

Other compilation criteria

As usual, on the eve of the publication of the new calendar, the Lega Calcio has also released all the compilation criteria that will be adopted for the compilation of the 38 matchdays:

It is expected absolute alternation home and away meetings for the following pairs of clubs: Inter-Milan, Lazio-Roma, Juventus-Torino, Empoli-Fiorentina
I derby cannot be played on matchdays 1 and 38 and in the midweek round (matchday 10).
Matches between teams participating in European cups: The clubs participating in the Champions League do not meet those participating in the Europa League and the Conference League on the following matchdays: 5th, 6th, 22nd, 25th, 28th, 32nd and 35th between two rounds of back-to-back UEFA competitions.
