Italian Jannik Sinner is the top seed for Wimbledoncame out alive from Matteo Berrettini’s bombingwho felt great again and stretched the duel with his compatriot until falling 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4), 2-6 and 7-6 (4).
The 28 aces and 65 winners of Berrettini, finalist of the 2021 edition, were not enough to deactivate the number onewho won the match thanks to three tie breaks in which he was clearly superior.
Facing Berrettini in the second round was a pain for Sinner, given the former’s unseeded status due to the time he has spent off the court with various injuries, especially a serious one to his wrist.
